Why Im Excited for the DualShock 4

DualShock 4
For those who don't know the DualShock 4 is Sony's next gaming controller that will be released with there upcoming console the PS4. It was first shown at Sony's press conference about the PS4 a few months ago. There new controller has some new features form there previous gaming controller, the DualShock 3.

The largest difference has to be the new touch pad in the center of the Dualshock 4. This touch pad will be replacing the start and select buttons that the previous controller had and will be used as a touch pad for upcoming games on the PS4. All though we don't know exactly how the touch pad will work with the games coming out, it looks pretty interesting  I'm mostly excited to see how developers can integrate the touch pad into there games. I don't think it will be a game changer but I do think that it can be an interesting feature that can be used to improving gamers experience and involvement in games. Perhaps developers can use it  it for quick time events like tapping it quickly, or swipe it in a direction to perform a jump or use it to perform special moves in a game or perhaps they can tap on it to open up a menu. These aren't the best examples on how it can be used but it shows all the different ways the touch pad can be integrated. I'm sure there are many different ways to use it and I am excited to see how developers will integrate it.

Another glaring difference form the Dual Shock 3 is the new share button. If you cant tell its the small button just in between the direction pad and the touch pad. This new button will let you be able to capture and share video game footage of about 15 minutes. I don't believe they explained how this will all work (will the share button share the last 15 minutes of gameplay or will it upload an already prerecorded 15 minutes of gameplay?) but none the less it still sounds interesting. This will be particularly interesting for people that upload and edit videos regularly, for a website or YouTube. I would like to see how it all works and see if its as easy to use as Sony makes it out to be.

Also the Dualshock 4 has a motion sensor that can be used to detect were the player s in the room. The motion sensor is said to not be connected to the PlayStation Move ( So don't freak out lol ). It is said to be able to do some interesting things like light up different colors for each player ( For example Player 1 would light up blue, Player 2 would light up green etc.). It can also do some more interesting features like switch the screen if you move while your playing co-op and change color if your are getting hit in game. This is another thing that developers can take advantage of to improve the gaming experience.

Dualshock 4 also has a headphone jack which will enhance the mic quality. It also has a speaker so gaming sounds can come out of the controller speaker. I think this is one of the minor features still something interesting that can help the gaming experience. There are also some more smaller changes like different analog sticks, and a different left and right trigger. however those are small changes to the Dualshock
controller

I'm very excited for the Dualshock 4 because of all the different features  it gives the developers to change the gaming experience. I'm also very happy Sony took a risk and changed it up. I hope it pays off.
I am so excited to see just how the PS4 can use it and how developers can use it in there games.
